The Fall
The storm came
On a clear, warm day
Trees gently bristled
Their canopies full and lustful
A brief encounter of souls
An unknowing knowing
A craving for barn owls and slicing swifts.
The summer was no more
A lonely leaf fell
Brown in colour
Too early to be separated
Too early to fall
Helpless in the summer breeze
It's cry unheard
As it gently slipped
Into the undergrowth
I couldn't hear the birds after that
The dragonflies lost their colour
All I could hear was the beating
Of a still and lifeless heart
My ears cried to hear poetic verse,
Words that soften a world
Beats that catch the moments
Of memories,
Oh for future memories
And slowly the words came back
Like a gust of wind
that takes breath
Abruptly
The words began to form
And I sat.
In that place
Where memories began
As a tear,
A ridiculous, rusted diamond tear
Fell
What a day
To fall
